the Return
Jason’s Vows
The Fates are busy spirits—one never expects a personal visit from them—but
I know they visited me—I felt their presence quite clearly—on that
first day we walked together, May Day 1999. And, though the Poets often describe
the Fates as cold and indifferent, I saw them smiling and winking at me.
Then, as now, I feel a deep kinship with you—with the essence that is
you, Leslie Raymond.
Your joy is my joy. Your pain is my pain.
Your passion is my passion.
And now, having experienced the shifting phases and cycling patterns of a relationship
unafraid to confront darkness, and that thrills in the bright clarity of happiness,
we are together, here, bonded by mutual goals, seeking Life’s truths,
exploring novelty and the Mystery of Creativity hand-in-hand, sharing a deep
and rich appreciation of the beauty of this world, filling Life with meaning;
I know that you feel, as do I, the Time has come to make our commitment public,
to take the Holiest of Vows, to display our devotions in hope that the people
we Love, gathered here today, will honour and cherish our promise as we do.
Leslie, I love you—
and remain forever committed to you.
I am yours, and desire always to be so—
to share, to serve, and to offer the safety and opportunity of unconditional
Love.
Leslie Raymond,
Do you take me as your husband,
that I may love you truly,
for Better and for Worse,
for Richer and for Poorer,
to serve as Medicine in Sickness,
and to share in the Bounty of good Health,
all of the days and nights of our lives?
“I do.”
Leslie, with this ring,
a circle symbolizing Eternity,
a sign of our faithful Love,
a token of all that I possess,
I seal our Sacred Union.
