DESIGNER, FABRICATOR, PROJECT MANAGER Designed in 2002 and exhibited permanently at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum. Connections is an exhibition about telecommunication, allowing museum visitors to communicate across the gallery by fun and novel means, demonstrating and explaining technological principles along the way. From the introduction to Connections: People have always sought to communicate with one another over a long distance, but it hasn't always been easy. A message that once took days, weeks or even years to travel by foot, horseback or ship can now travel by wire, fiber optic cable or microwave signal to its destination in a tiny fraction of a second. Our modern telecommunications network reaches around the world, allowing us to share ideas and information with virtually anyone, anywhere, anytime. |
